Marking Pensions Awareness Week

23rd September 2024

Moneycube.ie is marking the start of this year’s Pensions Awareness Week (PAW24) with the launch of its new National Pensions Test (NPT).

Now in its sixth year, PAW24 will take place from today (September 23) until Friday, September 28 and the central theme of the week is: You wouldn’t ignore your NCT, why neglect your NPT?’

In order to raise awareness about pensions and shift mindsets in helping to prepare for retirement, Moneycube.ie is offering a free will to all those who take the test.

The new NPT is an online tool — available at the PAW24 website, PensionsAwarenessWeek.ie  —  designed to gauge people’s readiness to start a pension. It also will test their knowledge of how to track the performance of their investments, their readiness for retirement, and their understanding of optimal employee benefits.

Also available via the PAW24 website is the NPT Calculator, an online dashboard which helps people calculate the savings they will need for a secure and comfortable retirement.

PAW24 aims to raise awareness about retirement planning and to help people take charge of their long-term savings.

Backed by a host of business industry partners, PAW24 is an initiative from Moneycube.ie, experts in the pensions industry.

PAW24 partners include New Ireland, Standard Life, Zurich Life, the Retirement Planning Council of Ireland, Ibec, the Small Firms Association, and Royal London Ireland.

As part of PAW24, a breakfast briefing panel event is taking place on Wednesday, September 25 at 8.15am at the headquarters of Brightwater Recruitment on Dublin’s Merrion Square.

At the event, Estelle Davis, Brightwater’s Chief Development Officer, will host a panel discussion on how the new pensions auto-enrolment scheme will impact employers and employees alike.

Panellists include Feargal McKenna, Head of Corporate at Moneycube.ie; Neville Maxwell, Group Pensions Sales Manager with new Ireland Assurance; Susan Wylie, Partner at Azets Accountancy; and Fiona Higgins, Head of Knowledge Centre at Ibec.

Feargal McKenna, Head of Corporate at Moneycube.ie, says:

“Moneycube.ie is delighted to bring back Pensions Awareness Week for another year of events to promote the importance of retirement planning. This is the first year that we are offering people the chance to take our National Pensions Test, a series of online questionnaires designed to assess their appetite to start a pension, their knowledge of how to monitor their investments, their readiness for impending retirement, and whether their organisation has the optimal workplace benefits for employees.

“PAW24 is a great opportunity for us to engage employers, answer their questions, and provide much-needed clarity on what can be an obscure and intimidating subject for many people.”
