IPPVA Award Winners 2024 Announced

The Irish Professional Photographers and Videographers Association (IPPVA) held its Annual Awards Gala on April 7th, 2024 in Dublin’s Clontarf Castle Hotel with the event culminating in the announcement of the winners of the IPPVA Professional Photographer and Videographer of the Year Awards 2024.

 

The much-coveted top prize of IPPVA Photographer of the Year 2024 was awarded to Rashida Keenan (pictured right) for her open creative portfolio which embodies a series of images of her own family. Rashida, who hails from Newry in Co.Down, is a multi-award winning, wedding, family & childhood photographer who this year also achieved the Associateship qualification in the IPPVA. Rashida creates magical, timeless, and nostalgic storytelling images.

Galway based ‘NONFICTION LOVE’ were named as the overall IPPVA Professional Videographers of the Year 2024. With a delicate mix of both documentary and cinematic style, Aoife McCartan and her wife Emilly Silva (lead picture) like to embrace simplicity in their work. The judges were so impressed that the duo were was also named as Wedding Videographers of the Year 2024.

The awards on the night were sponsored by Bermingham Cameras and Canon, with Brian Whelan from Bermingham Cameras in attendance to make presentations. Several of the 150 judges from across all sectors of the industry who adjudicated throughout the year were also in attendance. Loxley Colour sponsored the remarkable exhibition on the night.

Speaking at the gala event, president of the IPPVA Richard McCarthy said “This year I’m bursting with pride at the professional quality of our members and their consistent passion to achieve award-winning photographs and video through hard work and expertise.

I am equally pleased to note that our organization has achieved contemporary equality, with 68% of our finalists being women. This underscores the essence of IPPVA, where our community are seen not just as men or women, but as equal visual artists.”
