Yesterday Sheryl Sandberg announced that she is to step down from Meta’s board.  She will remain as an advisor to the company. “With a heart filled with gratitude and a mind filled with memories, I let the Meta board know that I will not stand for reelection this May,” she announced. “Serving as Facebook’s – and then Meta’s – COO for 14 ½ years and a board member for 12 years has been the opportunity of a lifetime.” In response, Zuckerberg thanks Sheryl for ‘the extraordinary contributions you have made to our company and community over the years… I look forward to this next chapter together!,” he wrote.

Before joining Facebook (now Meta) as its first COO, she was VP of Global Online Sales & Ops at Google. A Harvard-educated businesswoman, Sheryl has always been a strong voice for women which was amplified in her 2013 book ‘Lean in: Women, Work and the Will to Lead’ .  At the same time, she co-founded and launched the global entity ‘Lean In’ – a community which helps foster leadership, advancement, and inclusion for women in the workplace and is the chairperson.
