Orla Crowe, New Director of Fitness Practice at NMBI

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) recently appointed Orla Crowe as new Director of Fitness Practice.
Orla, who took up her new role in April, is a solicitor with over 11 years of professional experience. She previously worked in the Health and Social Care Department in the legal firm Byrne Wallace, where she specialised in child protection matters. Prior to that, Orla worked as a criminal defence solicitor and as a human rights lawyer in Kosovo and Malawi.
Orla has always had an interest in the professions of nursing and midwifery, as her mother is a registered nurse who continues to practice in Mayo.
Speaking about her appointment, Orla said: “I look forward to leading the Fitness to Practice Department as we work to protect the integrity of the professions. We will continuously strive to enhance the process for everyone involved.”
