Francesca McDonagh Hopscotches to Group COO at Credit Suisse

Credit Suisse Group has announced the appointment of Francesca McDonagh as Group Chief Operating Officer. She will join the Executive Board and will report directly to the new Group CEO Ulrich Körner.
Ms McDonagh was previously announced as CEO of the EMEA region. However, several new appointments were recently announced by the Group and she will now take up the role of Group COO on September 19, 2022.
This new role will support the Group CEO Ulrich Körner in the steering and strategic development of the Group including operational and cost transformation. Ms McDonagh will also lead the enterprise architecture development, including focusing on organisational design and bank-wide efficiencies.
She most recently served as Group CEO at the Bank of Ireland after holding several senior management roles at HSBC Group. “It’s been a professional and personal privilege to do this role for the last five years,” she said in a recent interview. Bank of Ireland chairman Patrick Kennedy hailed Ms McDonagh as an exceptional chief executive with ambition and commitment and said: “The impact of Francesca’s many achievements will live long beyond her time at the bank.”
