Network Ireland Signs up to Diversity Charter
30th December 2021
Network Ireland has signed up to Diversity Charter Ireland as it strives to promote inclusion and reach women across the country. Diversity Charter Ireland is a community of diversity practitioners, seeking to build best practice in promoting diversity, equality and inclusion in their workplaces. Sixty-eight organisations have signed up to the programme since its foundation almost 10 years ago.
National President of Network ireland Aisling O’Neill says her group is a natural fit for the charter: “Since our foundation almost 40 years ago, our mission has been to be the leading representative organisation for Irish women in business, the professions, the arts, trades and industry. We have grown into the most incredibly supportive group of people with a collective instinct to be inclusive. It’s important we get the message out that we want to meet and support women and their careers, from communities across Ireland”.
Aisling is proud that this step has been achieved during her term as National President of Network Ireland: “This demonstrates our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Being part of the collective signatory organisations in promoting the benefits of diversity, equality and inclusion in Ireland, Europe and beyond, is important to us. I’m thrilled that we can go into 2022 clearly stating this is a priority for us”.
Founder of Diversity Charter Ireland Maria Hegarty welcomed Network Ireland to the group: “Aisling and the whole team at Network Ireland will be a real asset to our programme. They have an established track record of promoting women’s capabilities and achievements and are exactly the kind of organisation that will enhance our group and help to promote our goals”.
AIB is Network Ireland’s official partner. Head of Business Banking Market, Catherine Moroney says this is a good move for the organisation: “Network Ireland has been showing the way for women and organisations around Ireland since the early 1980s and this is another example of the way they step up to the plate. I look forward to learning more about their agenda to promote diversity and inclusion, and support them all the way”.
Signatories of Diversity Charter Ireland join a community of organisations in 26 Diversity Charters across the EU, with over 12,000 signatory organisations covering at least 16 million employees. It’s supported by the European Commission through the EU Platform of Diversity Charters.
