Ireland’s largest collection of sustainable Christmas gifts will be featured at Gifted, the Contemporary Craft and Design Fair which takes place at the RDS this week from December 4-8th. Home to over 500 stands packed with original gifts, this year’s event will feature a unique Sustainable Pop-Up of 40 of Ireland’s finest eco-friendly brands and a Sustainable Edit, curated by journalist Jo Linehan (founder of The Futurist podcast) showcasing 12 top ethical producers.
Visitors to Gifted can give the gift of a native Irish tree as a Christmas present and purchasers will receive a card stating the exact location where it is planted, thanks to organic clothing firm Grown, who also plant a tree for every item sold.
Former head of Spanish Operations with Ryanair, Nicola Connolly (pictured), will be showcasing her award-winning range of skincare products Nunaïa – made from oils and plants used by medicine women in Amazon rainforest areas and in the Andes. Nicola returned to Ireland after a decade of living and working with local communities in South America, helping people to develop sustainable models for their unique heritage.
The Sustainable Edit will also feature painted tile maker Alanna Plekkenpol, Cork-based risograph printed art books and stationery producers Badly Made Books, sustainable baby clothes guru Alison McEvoy and new natural essential oils brand The Nature of Things.
As well as a wide selection of contemporary Irish jewellery, fashion, accessories, ceramics, interiors, art, photography and children’s gifts, Gifted will also host a celebration of Irish books.
Among the authors confirmed for daily signings at the Dubray Books stand are Rory Cowan, Lucy Kennedy, Paul Howard, Alice Taylor, Kevin Barry and Susan Jane White.
Traditionally heralding the start of the festive season in Dublin, Gifted also hosts the Spectacular Christmas Food Emporium with over 100 artisan food producers where you can meet the experts who can help you source the tastiest festive fare. There will be 10% off everything at Gifted on the opening day, Wednesday, December 4.
