Awarding Excellence at UCD

UCD recognised the stellar achievements of nine of its graduates representing the University’s six constituent colleges at its annual UCD Alumni Awards held last month. The awards celebrate notable graduates who represent the characteristics and values which the University instils in its students, namely: integrity; excellence; collegiality; engagement; and diversity.
Nominated by their peers and faculty, the nine award winners for 2019 are exemplars in their chosen fields having excelled in a range of fields from the Arts to Health, from Sport to Engineering, from Research, Innovation and Impact to Business, and from Social Science to Law.
This year’s distinguished Alumni Awards winners are: Katie Mullan, World Cup silver medal holder (Sport); Noelle Walsh, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft, (Architecture and Engineering); Dr Sinead Walsh, EU Ambassador to South Sudan (Social Sciences); Dr Barbara Dawson, Director, Hugh Lane Gallery (Arts and Humanities); Shaun Kelly, former global COO, KPMG International (Business); Colin Ryan, Managing Director, Technology Investment Banking, Goldman Sachs (Law); Caroline Keeling (main image) CEO, Keeling’s (Science); Dr John Bell, Director Healthy Planet, DG Research & Innovation at European Commission (Research, Innovation and Impact); and Professor Mary Horgan, President, The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (Health and Agricultural Sciences).
