A Fearless Start to 2019
The Network Ireland West Cork January event entitled “Be Fearless” with inspirational guest speakers Susan Steele and Fiona O’Donnell took place recently at Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa, Co. Cork.
Attended by 120 of West Cork’s most ambitious and enterprising women, the event sought to inspire business women to become fearless in the face of challenge. Speaking at the event, Susan Steele, Chair of the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority said: “Fear is such a strong emotion. We can’t switch it off, but we can learn to be braver. A lot of being brave is about overcoming fear and making brave decisions. It’s important to enact this habit by making small consistent changes. In the words of Richard Branson, ‘the brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all.’”
Fiona O’Donnell, Blogger & Owner at West Cork Fit also inspired the crowd with tips on how to live fearlessly in 2019. Speaking at the event, Fiona said “You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with those willing to move beyond their fear, who want to see you do the same.” Fiona added we need to develop and nurture a courageous mindset. “Courage is recognising that you are afraid and ploughing on regardless.”
Speaking at the event, Ciara Lucy, President of Network Ireland West Cork said “’Be Fearless’ is the Network Ireland West Cork motto for 2019. This year, we want to encourage our members to be fearless, to do things that scare them every day. Our motto is to take a deep breath and go for it. It might seem scary but don’t let your inner voice stop you… as women we often doubt ourselves… the goal of Network Ireland is to encourage you to Step Up and be fearless in your daily activity.”
