Self-awareness for West Cork Businesswomen

The first official Network Ireland West Cork event took place recently at the Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, Co. Cork. The event titled “Deepening Your Personal Impact” was delivered by Sarah Abbott and Susan Manning of The People Practice, who are licensed MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) practitioners.
Speaking at the event, Sarah Abbott said “Building self-awareness drives our ability to perform to our maximum both personally and professionally. This programme utilises self-assessment tools, such as MBTI to gain greater insight on how the personality you were born with impacts how you interact and influence others. In particular, it helps you become more appreciative and tolerant of other styles of communication and patterns of behaviour, which is invaluable in the business world.”
“It is vital to be an adept influencer at leadership level and something that we find women can struggle with as their careers progress and they take on more senior roles. Strong self-awareness, self-reflection and spending time focussing on your intended impact versus how others felt they were impacted are key elements of self-development for all businesspeople,” added Susan Manning.
Speaking at the event, Adrienne Harrington, President of Network Ireland West Cork, said “We see time and time again that the most successful business people never stop learning. The theme of greater self-awareness tied in well with our first official event as it’s all about building strong foundations and resilience especially in situations where we need to influence others, both in our personal and professional lives, to reach a common goal. Network Ireland West Cork is about supporting and encouraging fellow members to excel in their lives and this evening’s event was very fitting.”
