Home and Community Care Ireland (HCCI), the representative organisation for private home care providers in Ireland, is pleased to announce the appointment of Orlaith Carmody as its first independent Chairperson. She will hold the position until 2021. The appointment highlights HCCI’s commitment to be the leader and voice for home care providers in Ireland.

Orlaith Carmody is Managing Director of Gavin Duffy and Associates, which she co-founded over 25 years ago, specialising in communications training and leadership development.  She is a Certified Management Consultant, a fellow of the Irish Institute of Training and Development and a member of the Institute of Directors. In addition, Orlaith has been actively involved with a large number of start-ups and continues as a shareholder and director of a number of SMEs.

Speaking about her appointment, Orlaith Carmody said: “I am delighted to join HCCI as its first independent Chairperson. The demand for home care in Ireland is rising daily, so this organisation’s role is now more important than ever. I am very much looking forward to working with our members and the existing team to maintain the quality of care and service provision needed in Ireland. The coming months will be a changing and challenging time for home care providers, as the Government plans to develop a new statutory formal home care scheme for older people. As part of my role, the HCCI will be engaging with the Government to ensure our members are involved with the new home care scheme. ”

Orlaith brings a wealth of leadership experience to HCCI, having served on several boards previously, including RTÉ (2010 – 2015), and HRM Recruit (2011 -2015). She began her career as a national newspaper and television journalist with RTE. She is the author of “Perform as a Leader,” a guide to professional development and corporate leadership, offering the skills and strategies to unlock anyone’s leadership potential. She holds an MA from DCU.
