CUBS Conference 2018

Details of Cork University Business School (CUBS) Conference 2018 have been announced. ‘Workforce of the Future’ will take place on Thursday, March 8th in Cork Opera House. Ireland’s largest student led conference will challenge and explore Ireland’s changing workforce, with a number of expert guest speakers and panelists from the spheres of business, finance and technology sharing their insights on the topic.
Open to both students and the business community, delegates at the day-long event will hear from speakers including Dragon’s Den investor Barry O’Sullivan, CEO and Co-Founder of AltoCloud; Founder of Boutique Bake, Catherine Buggy; Yvonne Frost, Head of People Organisations at Poppulo; Michelle O’Donovan, CEO of TAPSTAK; DC Cahalane, CEO and Co-founder of Republic of Work; and Kevin O’Leary, CEO of Qumas; with more speakers to be announced. Sponsors of the 2018 CUBS Conference include Bank of Ireland; the Local Enterprise Offices in Cork City and county; Accenture; and media partner, Irish Examiner.
The conference also coincides with International Women’s Day and the morning will kick off with a panel on Women in Business, the conference will hear from Siobhan Talbot CEO of Glanbia, one of Ireland’s most senior businesswomen.
Speaking about the upcoming event, the newly appointed Dean of CUBS, Professor Thia Hennessy (pictured) said “The way in which we work is transforming and this year’s conference will focus on the future of our workforce and how it could look very different in years to come. We are seeing constant changes, especially with advances in technology, influencing a number of sectors.”
CUBS at UCC is one of the two largest business schools in Ireland. Together with the recently acquired Irish Management Institute, CUBS is also the largest provider of executive education in Ireland. The former Cork Savings Bank building on Lapp’s Quay, which UCC purchased in 2016, is currently being transformed into a state of the art centre for executive education to be launched later this year.
