TEDxDrogheda Announces Inaugural TEDx Event
14th June 2016
TEDxDrogheda was officially launched by Gavin Duffy, RTÉ’s Dragon’s Den, on June 8th, 2016. It will take place in the Droichead Arts Centre on 17th September 2016 and will provide a broad interpretation of the theme “FutureWealth”, with presentations by speakers from the local community and further afield.
The organising committee consists of Graham O’Rourke, Chairman of The Mill Enterprise Hub; Anna Kurtisa, administrator at The Mill Enterprise Hub; Alan Costello, CEO of Ruby Consulting; Orla Moloney, Director of Droichead Arts Centre; and Orlaith Carmody, former RTE news reporter and Managing Director of Mediatraining.ie.
“We are interested in asking whether the concept of FutureWealth is related to money or whether it involves something much broader such as creativity, social equality, health or environment”, said Orla Moloney, the Director of Droichead Arts Centre. TEDxDrogheda represents technology, the arts, education, youth programmes, business and not-for-profit organisations. Our common aim is to reach a diverse cross-section of our community and ensure a truly inspirational set of topics and talks.
“We will support speakers with some training and practice, so no one should be put off by the thought that doing a TEDx talk is out of reach” said Orlaith Carmody, who has spoken twice at TEDx events. “We are looking for speakers of all ages and backgrounds, who have a great idea worth sharing.”
