Sweet Beat Café

Sweet Beat Café is a plant-based health café focusing on making plant-based cuisine more accessible to people through raw foods, hot dishes, superfood salads, energising smoothies and tasty treats.

The Café was founded by Carolanne Rushe, who had previously run the Green Warrior market stall at the weekly Strandhill People’s Market at Strandhill Beach Front in County Sligo. It was there she cultivated a community around her vegan salads, fresh nut milks, and raw treats; the market provided the perfect platform to test products on the local market and see if there was demand.

Following sell out sessions at the market, and when a retail premises became available at the start of 2015, Carolanne jumped at the opportunity and set to work on developing an idea for a café. Trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School in 2013, Carolanne had spent the previous six years travelling the globe; living in Perth, Johannesburg, Qatar and Italy.

She had started food blogging (www.carolanneskitchen.com) to share recipes and ingredient inspiration which she discovered along her travels, and she also had a market stall at farmers markets in South Africa.
