Admiring Meyer
WORDS: LIV MORGAN
Julie Meyer is not a businesswoman you are likely to forget. Her life is entrepreneurship, her achievements are astounding and she is articulate to the point that everything she says makes you really think.
Julie is the CEO of Ariadne Capital (pronounced Airey-Ad-Nee), the Founder of Entrepreneur Country, BBC Online Dragon and Co-Founder of First Tuesday. American by birth but ‘home’ being London, Julie is known as one of the leading champions of entrepreneurship in Europe. Her passion is indisputable: “Entrepreneurship drives society not just the economy. If people are feeling that their living standards are going down it doesn’t work. If entrepreneurship drives the wealth which drives the economy it ultimately drives society. It’s the beginning of the domino effect.”
“Whether we want good education for our kids, safe streets, it all starts with the creation of wealth and wealth is created by entrepreneurs, not by governments but those rare and wonderful people who decide to live abnormal lives to bring the new-new thing to life,” she asserts.
Julie Meyer appeared in the Summer 2010 issue of WMB.
