O2 Women Mean Business Conference

& Awards 2008

The O2 WMB Conference & Awards 2008 allows for the opportunity for
businesswomen to be recognised for the great contribution they have made

to our economy and to society as a whole.

This Unique Event is an excellent forum for Ireland’s businesswomen where business opportunities are uncovered and friendships discovered. Rosemary Delaney publisher of WMB and promoter of this unique offering oozes excitement as she recalls the inaugural event last year: “It was a sellout, weeks beforehand. It was a fantastic challenge as we

and indeed our sponsors set high standards for this event. Fortunately, when you have a great venue, with amazing speakers and an inspiring and enthusiastic audience, you know it’s going to deliver the ‘WOW’ factor. This year although there is plenty of talk of economic gloom and doom the adage ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going’ kicks in. Businesswomen are very resilient — we’re a bit like weebles — we wobble but we don’t

fall down’!

Tara Cunningham, Founding Director of Release Communications Intervention, received the Irish Life WMB Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award last year: “Winning the Irish Life WMB Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award has made a remarkable difference. Firstly, it’s absolutely wonderful to be recognised for all the hard work I do on behalf of Release and children with disabilities in a social entrepreneurial context. Secondly, within 15 minutes of receiving the Award, Danuta Gray, CEO of O2 agreed to be a member of my Ashoka Advisory Board. Her participation has been extraordinary. Finally, I was overwhelmed with congratulations and offers of help from so many people. All of which is pushing me harder

to make a greater difference in the lives of children with disabilities.”

Title sponsor for the event is O2 Ireland which also sponsors O2 WMBusinesswoman of the Year Award 2008. Danuta Gray, Chief Executive, O2 Ireland reaffirms their involvement:

“O2 Ireland is delighted to be associated with WMB for a second year. The inaugural awards in 2007 were a great success and each of the winners should rightly feel proud of their achievements. To reach the top in any business takes not only effort and determination but also real passion. In areas as diverse as science, technology, tourism, business services

and manufacturing, Irish businesses are benefiting from the fresh ideas, dedication, and leadership that women can bring. In recognising their achievements, these awards are encouraging even more women to succeed in their chosen field”.

So when you take five major companies — O2, Accenture, Irish Life, the County & City Enterprise Boards and Marie Keating Foundation and add a passionate title like WMB to

the mix, you can be sure that the end result will be worth your investment. Roll on September 29th.
