Newstalk WMB Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011
Newstalk 106-108 fm was launched on April 9th, 2002, determined to provide the people of Dublin with a real-talk alternative radio station. Following unrivalled success, the station was granted a licence allowing them to broadcast across the Republic of Ireland. Newstalk hit the national airwaves on September 29th, 2006. Since then, the station has delivered breaking news as it happens, informative debates, expert analysis, entertaining discussions and the best sports coverage to all corners of the country – and continues to do so. Newstalk now enjoys over 550,000 listeners on a weekly basis.
Newstalk CEO Frank Cronin says “ We are delighted to be involved with the Women Mean Business Awards for a second year running, especially to be sponsoring the Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Women are such an important part of our market segment and we feel it is the right fit for Newstalk. As a company, we are involved in and support a number of charities, we recognise the good work of those women who are behind social initiatives which are making change both in Ireland and abroad”.
The Newstalk WMB Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011 will be presented to a woman who has significantly contributed to society. These unsung heroes are selfless in their approach to work and life. They seek to generate social value rather than profits. Their work is targeted at long term change.
